Tahrir Dreams
-
Whenever I visited Tahrir Square, the sheer euphoria of the scene made it impossible for me to view it through a camera lens. The overwhelming generosity and kindness shared between strangers moved me deeply. Because of my family’s fears, I could never stay for long, so I contributed by providing food and medical supplies for those on the front lines.
On the eve of Mubarak’s resignation—ending a thirty-year reign—I felt a sudden urge to document the history unfolding before me. With my friend Hend's help, I gathered a pen and paper and began interviewing protesters from all walks of life about their dreams for the future. I expected grand visions, but I was stunned by the humbleness of their responses. Their 'hopes' were nothing more than the basic essentials of a dignified life.
